A DAD who was stabbed to death yesterday has been named locally.Johnny 'Dankys' Cash, 40, was killed at the Hebron Road in Co Kilkennyon Tuesday after.

Tributes have been paid online to John 'Dankys' Cash who was stabbed to death in Kilkenny yesterday afternoon.

A garda spokeswoman said: “Any person who was on Hebron Road this afternoon between 12.30pm and 1pm, including any road users who may have camera footage, including dash cam, is asked to make this available to investigating gardaí." It is understood that Garda detectives have not yet been able to formally question him as the suspect was described as being “intoxicated” upon being detained at the scene. “Initial inquiries have established that the victim was walking down the street when he was spotted and attacked,” a source said. A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene and last night remained in Garda custody in relation to the fatal assault. The suspect is from the Kilkenny area and at this stage gardaí are probing whether the stabbing is linked to a historic row dating back more than 10 years.
