Longford's cause wasn't aided by the 82nd minute dismissal of the promising Dean McMenamy for a second bookable offence for a foul on Hurley. United added a second in the 73rd minute courtesy of Max Hemmings as John Caulfield's charges were in firm control late on. The midlanders enjoyed plenty of encouraging first half moments, but United dictated the agenda after the restart.
