Celtic 1-1 Rangers: Bhoys on course for Scottish Premiership title ... (Evening Standard)

Celtic remain well on course for the Scottish Premiership title after a 1-1 draw against Rangers at Celtic Park.

Sakala was played clean through on goal, he beat Hart with the finish but saw the ball cannon back off the inside of the post. Ryan Kent slid the ball through to Sakala and he drilled a low effort past Hart, who would have been furious to get beaten at his near post. This time it dropped perfectly for him in the box and once again he fluffed his lines, blasting the shot over the bar.

Scottish Premiership side targeting deal for 37-year-old QPR man (Football League World)

Hibernian are interested in signing QPR goalkeeper David Marshall, journalist Alan Nixon has reported via Patreon. Marshall joined QPR back in the January…

That is something that could see Marshall as an obvious candidate to be moved on, given he has not entirely convinced while he has been at the club. Following the collapse of their promotion push during the second half of this season, it does seem as though their will be something of a rebuilding job at QPR this summer. As things stand, Marshall will be out of contract at QPR at the end of this season, meaning he could leave the club for free this summer.

Celtic v Rangers: Scottish Premiership – live! (The Guardian)

Minute-by-minute report: Can Celtic move to the brink of title glory with victory over their great rivals? Join John Ashdown to find out.

Rangers got the better of their neighbours in the cup last time out, but Celtic won the league tie at Ibrox at the start of April and can effectively seal the Scottish Premiership title with a win today. John Terry is in the stands wearing a Celtic scarf, and Rod Stewart is there too. 9 min: Kyogo Furuhashi clips Lundstram as the Rangers man looks to sweep a ball out to the right. Do Rangers have Reason To Believe, or is Tonight The Night for a Celtic party? Kent is cutting in from the left to meet his cross and gets there in front of Ralston, but his volleyed effort is clipped a yard wide. The referee keeps his cards in his pocket. The latter scampers clear but is hampered by Barisic, whose charging run forward is ill-judged. Lundstram and Davis are bossing midfield at the moment - the former wins the ball, the latter finds Arfield on the right. Maeda drifts inside from the left to find … yards of space. A little better from Rangers that – you got the sense they were beginning to run out of ideas. And the visitors had probably edged the opening quarter. Maeda should nod home but has one eye on the Rangers goalkeeper and timidly glances wide from close range.

Celtic vs Rangers – LIVE updates (Scottish Daily Record)

The task is simple for Ange Postecoglou's men, win and Rangers will be left nine points behind them with a vastly inferior goal difference. But Celtic won't ...

Then he gets in a great position for a header but gets it all wrong and it's high and wide of the target. And that goal was straight out the manual, as Maeda finds a pocket of space and his perfect ball picks out his team-mate. It's a copy-and-paste of Abada's goal in February and it's the same Rangers man at fault. He nearly does it again when Celtic win a throw and and Jota drifts over to the byline, not offside as per the laws of the game regarding throw-ins. He finds pockets of space and his wicked ball to pick out Jota could well have resulted in the second goal. But the Swede is able to recover easily and wins a goal-kick off the Zambian. And this one WOULD have counted as Jota delivers a delicious ball to Maeda with the outside of his boot. But he whipped his phone out to film it as the 60,000-strong home crowd made a racket ahead of the huge derby clash. The first of the game and it's for Ralston who took a poor touch and then left a sore one on Arfield. Hatate, has plenty of class, but he also has a knack of coiughing up the ball at inopportine occasions. He hits it from the edge of the box but the ball is bouncing high and that's reflected in the shot which floats harmlessly over the bar. He and the rest of that backroom are so close to winning it back now.

The Govan men worked their way back into the game but Celtic should have added to their lead. Unmarked Furuhashi, from an offside move, hooked a shot over the bar from a cross from Maeda, who then headed past the post with only McGregor to beat. In the 12th minute Ryan Kent volleyed a cross from captain James Tavernier past the post from 12 yards when he should have at least tested Hoops keeper Joe Hart, who then had to deal with a decent long-range drive from the attacker.

Joe Hart was responsible for Rangers not closing the gap to three points. Postecoglou and the Celtic players could not hide their frustration when Maeda squandered another chance, against the run of play, minutes later. Rangers built up momentum after the break, pressing Celtic deep and creating opportunities, and could have equalised. The Portuguese winger beat a sleeping Borna Barisic to the ball and redirected it past Allan McGregor. Maeda dribbled past Connor Goldson and whipped the ball across the six yard box. Celtic should have gone into half-time two ahead.

QPR's January signing attracting summer transfer interest (The 72 - We Love the Football League)

QPR goalkeeper David Marshall is attracting interest from Scottish Premiership side Hibernian, according to Alan Nixon.

QPR’s goalkeeping situation over the course of the past few months has been quite remarkable. It will be hoped that Rangers can hold on to key players like Ilias Chair, Chris Willock, Rob Dickie and more, and with Warburton heading for pastures new, it could be a busy summer at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. Manager Mark Warburton will be moving on in a decision that could come back to bite QPR despite the collapse of their promotion push this season.
