Although he admitted dumping Logan’s body lying Cole could not bring himself to admit leaving Logan – who was scared of water – in the river. Fantasist Cole would also make out that he was a former member of the SAS and he could make people “disappear”. Cole’s criminal past was exposed during the trial with dozens of convictions in his late teens and early 20s including an attack on a child. Medical evidence showed Logan would have been in “extreme pain” for hours before his death and the adults in the house must have known this. In her own evidence mum Williamson admitted Logan “must have been scared s***less” at the treatment both she and Cole dished out. The court heard Logan would “flinch” around Cole and suffered from a stammer which had almost gone away but then got worse in the weeks before his death. During his evidence Cole tried to paint Logan as a tearaway child who would always be naughty thought claimed he was never violent towards him. But the court heard Logan’s injuries showed evidence of “deep slap bruising” and he suffered trauma to the brain. Former work colleagues claimed Cole was a former member of the National Front and said he may have killed Logan because of his skin colour. Ms Rees said: “He would call Logan Coco Pop. He was a child of mixed race and it is relevant to a dehumanising attitude towards Logan.” Cole cut off much of Logan’s contact with the outside world and even stopped him from seeing his real father and grandmother Clare Williamson. It also revealed how Cole was reportedly a former member of the National Front with an ex-colleague saying he was blatantly racist.

Logan Mwangi: vibrant child murdered after months of terror | crime (The Plainsmen Post)

The people Logan should have been able to rely on – his mother, Angharad Williamson, 30, and stepfather, John Cole, 40 – have been found guilty of his murder ...

Williamson said she slept the night through, woke up to find that Logan was missing, and had no idea how he died. On 29 July a row broke out over a trivial matter: damage to a stereo that Logan was blamed for. Social services knew of Cole’s criminal past and Logan had been placed on the child protection register (CPR), a list of all children in Wales identified as being at risk of significant harm. On the same day, Williamson called the police and told them Boy X had confessed to pushing Logan down the stairs in August. She said she felt Logan was in danger and asked for help. On 21 July Logan tested positive for Covid. The isolation rules imposed by Cole and Williamson were cruel. In court, Cole claimed Logan fell over as he tried to scramble on to a kitchen surface. In early 2021 Boy X was hit by his mother and he was taken into care. She went to a private school, studied film at college in Southend and worked as the manager of a phone shop in east London. During the holidays, on 15 August Logan broke an arm in a fall. Friends from those days say he was a racist with an interest in the National Front. When Logan’s body was examined after he was found lifeless in the River Ogmore, close to the family home in Sarn, south Wales, it was bruised, grazed and scratched from head to toe. The attack or attacks that caused his death had been sustained and he would certainly have been in pain for many hours.

Police and forensics are pictured on the scene of the murder. Logan was also made to stand outside the house in just his pyjamas, neighbours said. And police failed to take action a year earlier, when the five-year-old broke his arm. Mr Mwangi said: 'Logan was the sweetest and most beautiful boy, whose life has been tragically cut short. John also appeared in court and denied causing or allowing the death of a child. Their investigation relied on photographs of the tap and Logan's injuries. All three children were murdered after suffering months of systematic abuse at the hands of their wicked parents and repeatedly let down by agencies which missed chances to intervene. The boy was found guilty of murder yesterday alongside Logan's mother Angharad Williamson, 31, and his stepfather John Cole, 40. Williamson admits covering up and lying to police about this. The boy's foster dad said: 'He was always on about killing people - then he said he wanted to kill another boy. More crucially, they claimed he said he wanted to kill Logan just weeks before he committed the crime - which they reported to social services. Williamson admits covering up and lying to police about this.

Essex dad's emotional tribute to 'beautiful' son Logan Mwangi as ... (Essex Live)

An Essex dad fought to contain his grief as he paid an emotional tribute to his "beautiful" son as three people were convicted of his murder.

I loved him so much and somehow I have to live my life knowing that I will never get to see him grow up to be the wonderful man he would have been. He was later contacted by an officer and told three people had been arrested on suspicion of Logan’s murder but the information “did not seem real”. All three defendants will be sentenced at a later date. "I would like to thank South Wales Police and the prosecution team who have worked tirelessly to bring those responsible for my son’s murder to court. He described how the world was now a "colder and darker place". Mr Mwangi spoke after the jury delivered their verdicts, saying: "Logan was the sweetest and most beautiful boy whose life has been tragically cut short. Williamson said: “He [Cole] called Logan out of his bedroom…sorry, he pulled him out in the hallway and tried to talk to him. “He stuttered again and Jay punched him twice to the stomach, he fell on his bum and hit his elbows on the floor. "Angharad Williamson is the most dramatic, wailing and shouting, playing the part of a distraught mother to the full extent of her acting abilities," she said. Hours after the murder Williamson called 999 and cried hysterically down the phone as she put on a "callous performance" to hide her knowledge of Logan's disappearance.

The five missed opportunities to save Logan Mwangi from a life of ... (WalesOnline)

The youngster suffered more than 56 external injuries, as well as horrific internal wounds.

She accused Cole of punching Logan twice in the stomach and ordering the youth to “sweep” Logan if he stuttered or flinched. Having carefully assessed the information provided, we decided there was no necessity to investigate, and returned the referral to the force for them to handle. 3 May 2021: Logan was allegedly burned deliberately by his mother to the back of his neck. Williamson claimed that two days before Logan’s body was found an argument about a spilt drink escalated and ended with Cole and the youth attacking him. Williamson was quizzed by a detective and tells him Logan fell down the stairs. Logan is placed on the child protection register and social services become involved. The social worker asked for photos of the wound and the tap and concluded they were a match. Lying Williamson told a social worker that Logan had “burned his neck on the bath” and that they have since altered the thermostat so it does not happen again. Then in January 2021 during a call to police Williamson claimed Logan was pushed down the stairs by the youth, who was living with the family at the time. On Thursday, the scheming pair were convicted of killing Logan and trying to cover it up alongside a teenage boy, who cannot be identified due to his age. But devious Williamson, who was described during her trial as a “liar who will try any stunt to avoid her true personality being on display”, told police Logan fell down the stairs and no further action was taken. But questions will now have to be asked as to how social services missed a catalogue of opportunities to save Logan from being killed.
