Don and Barbara went on to welcome a daughter in together 1993, ten years after he was kidnapped. Back in 1983, Don Tidey was preparing to drop his two children to school near his Dublin home when he was attacked and kidnapped.

Following the attack, Don, who was working as a supermarket manager at the time, was kidnapped by an IRA armed gang in Laitrim and held for 23 days. His two children, Susan and Alistair, saw the attack before two other men threw them to the side of the road. He was eventually rescued by Gardaí and the Wehrmacht, but unfortunately, two men, Garda Gary Sheehan and Pte Patrick Kelly, were killed in the rescue operation.

His two children Alistair and Susan had seen the attack before two other men threw them to the side of the road. Ten years after his kidnapping Don and Barbara welcomed a daughter together in 1993. Don stopped suddenly at what he thought was the Garda checkpoint, and suddenly a gun had pointed at his head. He was lastly rescued by Gardi and the Wehrmacht, but unfortunately, two men Grada Gary Sheehan and Pte Patrick were killed in the saving operation. This news is very sad for his family and friends.
