Stranger Things' first season 4 trailer reveals how life is about to change for Eleven, Joyce, and Hopper in Volume 1 of the next chapter.
While Stranger Things has explored the larger world outside of Hawkins, Indiana, in the past, the show’s fourth season is set to switch things up by splitting its story across a handful of disparate, important locations. Though the story will presumably return to the Upside Down and catch up with Jim Hopper in Russia, Stranger Things’ first season four trailer makes clear that a significant part of its next chapter will unfold in California, where Joyce and the rest of the Byers family have moved. Even though we’ve seen a few teasers of Stranger Things’ upcoming fourth season, none of them really let on just how much larger and epic in scope this next chapter seems like it’s going to be.
It's been nearly three long years since we last saw Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Steve, Will, Hopper, Nancy, Jonathan, Joyce, and any Stranger Things kids ...
Season four of Stranger Things will be split into two halves, with the first half premiering on Netflix on May 27. And he’s determined to start a war in Hawkins. Eleven is pulled back into the “eye of the storm” along with everyone else. Meanwhile, Max (Sadie Sink) is mourning her brother’s death, and at one point is levitating in the trailer.

Meanwhile, Max’s (Sadie Sink) brother Billy (Dacre Montgomery) gets possessed by a creature from the Upside Down who attempted to eat most of Hawkins’ residents, but was ultimately defeated by the gang. After all the action goes down, The Byers family, along with Eleven, move to a new town, separating the main cast of the series and setting up for this new season to jump between lots of different places to tell the story. The trailer also makes it clear that this season is going for a more classic horror-movie vibe, complete with an eerie haunted house the kids will have to explore.

“Your suffering is almost at an end.” The rest of the three-minute trailer has it all: delightfully shoddy ‘80s wigs! “You've broken everything,” narrates a very, very pissed sounding Mind Flayer, who is revealed in his corporeal form for the first time at the end of the clip. You'd be wrong.
The hit science-fiction drama will make its highly anticipated return to screens on May 27.

Can Eleven help save her friends from danger once more or will she remain powerless against the forces surrounding them?
For a while we tried to be happy, normal, I know that’s impossible.” Her wounded words could turn into some power as later on in the trailer, it seems that Max is levitating over Billy’s grave as some of her friends look on. Especially when a creepy new being states that “you’ve broken everything, your suffering is almost at an end.” Or will her help return Chief Hopper ( David Harbour) to his loved ones? In the trailer, below, which is set to the fitting tune of Journey’s “ Separate Ways (Worlds Apart),” the friends appear to be separated by more than just distance as new opportunities draw them down different paths.

With flashbacks to El's past, the introduction of what looks like demo-bats, and almost everyone taking a trip to The Upside Down, Stranger Things Season 4 looks to be the series' most expansive and heart racing set of episodes yet. It's been nearly three years since fans took a trip to Hawkins, Indiana to catch up with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp), and the rest of their adventuring party. As the heart pounding strains of an epic trailer remix of Journey's "Separate Ways" filter in, we get a closer look at Hopper (David Harbour), detained in a Russian prison fighting for his life, Joyce (Winona Ryder) getting a mysterious package from the other side of the world, and Steve (Joe Keery), Robin (Maya Hawke), and Nancy (Natalia Dyer) exploring unknown parts of Hawkins. The new trailer also tees up an absolutely insane battle of The Upside Down versus, well, the right side up.
Netflix has released the trailer for 'Stranger Things' Season 4, picking up with Eleven and her Hawkins friends.
Hopper (David Harbour) is revealed to be alive, but not doing very well as he’s imprisoned in Russia and forced to fight a Demogorgon with a ragtag group of soldiers. The smash-hit Netflix series, which follows the citizens of Hawkins, Ind., as they fight against supernatural phenomena, last dropped new episodes in 2019. The Duffers executive produce along with Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Cindy Holland, Brian Wright, Matt Thunell, Karl Gajdusek and Iain Paterson. Over the past year, Netflix has released various teasers for the fourth season. They also confirmed that the series has been renewed for a fifth season, which will be its last. Your friends in Hawkins are very much in the eye of a storm,” Eleven is warned.
Our heroes in Hawkins are worlds apart and the Stranger Things season 4 trailer shows how they'll come back together.
Considered one of the most iconic villains in the game, Vecna was a powerful wizard who became a lich (undead creature). Through many editions of D&D continuity Vecna has appeared as a fearsome foe, even ascending to Godhood at one point. What would a Stranger Things trailer be without our old friend, the Demogorgon? After serving as the big bad in season 1, this flower-headed freak became more of a miniboss in season 2 and 3. It now says “William Hargrove” instead of “Billy Hargrove.” (Can anyone remember a single time Billy was referred to as “William” on this show?) Could the alternate tombstone mean that we’re actually getting a glimpse into a parallel universe, one where Max suddenly has powers? But perhaps he was subjected to unimaginable Lovecraftian horrors and it was really those horrors that killed the Creels in the first place. In the context of season 4, it would appear that bored Russian soldiers make their Siberian prisoners battle the (or “a”) Demogorgon for their own amusement. Getting an American citizen from deep in the Siberian tundra to the Midwestern USA at the height of the Cold War has to be one hell of a logistical challenge. Perhaps now is a good time to mention the song in this trailer is “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” by Journey. That’s fitting given the scattered nature of the show’s characters going into the season. At one point, the clock is embedded into the wall of a hallway (likely in Hawkins High School) and appears to be bursting forth from the Upside Down itself. Eventually the Creel family patriarch Victor (played by Robert Englund) lost his mind and murdered his whole family in cold blood. The narration in this trailer makes it clear that the shadowy powers-that-be in the U.S. need help from the whole Hawkins team, Hopper included, to confront a new threat. First introduced as a devastatingly handsome bully in season 2, Billy became a full-on supervillain in season 3 when the Mind Flayer took over his body. The trailer opens with a helpful reminder of how season 3 ended.
"Stranger Things" is approaching its final run, but it still has some creepy scares left in store.
The show's creators and producers, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, said that "Stranger Things 4" is the "most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one." Although the show has always balanced wonder with horror, season four appears to be more of the latter. That includes the horrific world of the Upside Down and what appears to be a snow covered Russia.
