The Hoops come into the game in great form after beating Rangers 2-1 at Ibrox six days ago and are now undefeated domestically since September.

“At this stage of the season, every game has got an edge on it, irrespective of who you’re playing against. Can we make it difficult? Can we frustrate them? Once you prepare yourself in that manner it means our focus shifts. “They’ll be looking to win the game but really it’s (about) what we do. “We don’t go in there thinking they’re going to be more desperate in this game than they may be in the following week.

It was important we started well. They're five points clear of the automatic relegation spot but six adrift of guaranteed safety. As for St Johnstone, this is the kind of hammering that could seriously affect confidence over the final five games. Nearly 1000 passes, countless good chances to win by more, and just one shot for St Johnstone all match. The players want to create something special for themselves and they're not going to let it go now."

Rampant Celtic hit seven against sorry St Johnstone to close in on title (The42)

Josip Juranovic added a fourth from the spot early in the second half and Matt O'Riley scored twice in three minutes before fellow substitute Liel Abada ...

Abada came close with a drive and a free-kick before David Turnbull, on for Hatate, crossed for O’Riley to send a diving header past Clark and then, moments later, he drove a shot high past the St Johnstone keeper from just inside the box. Booth was too short with his pass back to Clark in the 22nd minute and Giakoumakis nipped in and rounded the keeper before sliding the ball over the line from the tightest of angles. In the 51st minute referee Andrew Dallas pointed quickly to the spot following Sang’s ungainly foul on Hatate and Juranovic beat Clark with a well-taken penalty. Davidson brought on Cammy MacPherson and Tom Sang for Murray Davidson and Shaun Rooney at the start of the second half, with O’Riley on for Rogic. Moments later, Clark did well to push another effort from Hatate past a post for a corner, from which Cameron Carter-Vickers headed wide, before the keeper blocked a shot from Tom Rogic as St Johnstone struggled to contain their slick-moving hosts. The news that the Japan forward was in the squad for the first time since he aggravated a hamstring injury on Boxing Day gave the home supporters a boost, while Postecoglou started with the same team he chose for last week’s league win at Ibrox.

Celtic predicted XI to face St Johnstone (FootballFanCast.com)

Here's our prediction for Celtic's starting XI to take on St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership.

Having been criticised for his “really poor” role in Rangers’ goal last weekend by Ally McCoist, Postecoglou may decide to take the Croatian out of the team on this occasion. For the back four, we think Postecoglou will stick with the centre-back duo of Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers, who ended up scoring the Bhoys’ winning goal in the derby last weekend. The Bhoys now have the chance to secure their fifth league win in a row by securing victory against the Saints, who are currently 10 places and 49 points below the Hoops in the league table.

The forward was jeered by a section of home fans at Parkhead during his final appearance in a friendly against West Ham last summer.

The next chapter in the most colourful of careers is still to be written. He said: “I am scared. I spoke to people at Celtic and the other people involved in the entire investigation process. I left that game, climbed into the car and drove back home. It sounds strange but I can’t be a player who is booed both home and away. Celtic Park's DJ used to play the Magnificent Seven theme regularly, and had just cause to give it another spin on Saturday against St Johnstone.

Judging by the way he was retrieving the ball deep beyond the 80th minute he probably still had the stamina for the 7km Aintree course. In a performance that provided so much, including a rare James McCarthy appearance, something was lost. The pre-billed return of Kyogo Furuhashi received the biggest cheer of several on Saturday afternoon.
