Shelley Horan BL, on behalf of CAB, told the court that the house was under control of mob boss Daniel Kinahan in conjunction with Thomas 'Bomber' Kavanagh, his Number 2. The court, sitting in Croke Park on Tuesday morning, also heard Kinahan himself lived in the house for a time and his personal items were discovered inside. The Criminal Assets Bureau on Tuesday seized a plush, gated home worth over €1 million which was under the control of the Kinahan cartel.

Businessman given €4.5 million in two suitcases for property investment by cartel, court heard.

He has been named in Garda evidence in previous cases as the leader of the Kinahan cartel. Cab has no address for Kinahan in Dubai but was dealing with one of his associates and may also serve him via social media. Shelley Horan BL, for the bureau, told the High Court it was Cab’s belief the Kinahan cartel had invested in properties that Mansfield Jnr was developing. Mansfield Jnr later reached a deal with the cartel to effectively repay them by giving them a luxury house in a gated community in Saggart and a sum of money. The High Court has cleared the way for the seizure a luxury property in south Dublin as part of a Criminal Assets Bureau case against Jim Mansfield Jnr and members of the Kinahan cartel. The High Court heard on Tuesday that Mansfield Jnr was given €4.5 million in cash in two suitcases by the Daniel Kinahan and his associate Thomas ‘Bomber’ Kavanagh in 2009.

The barrister also said that 10 Coldwater Lakes was occupied and in the control of Daniel Kinahan from 2014. Ms Horan said it was "quite important" that service is affected on Daniel Kinahan for the resolution of the case. Evidence was given that in 2009, Jim Mansfield Jnr was given two suitcases, containing a total of €4.5m, as part of the investments by the Kinahan cartel. Kavanagh, she said, was an "international drug trafficker and key in the Kinahan organised crime group". The High Court has previously ruled that Daniel Kinahan is the leader of that gang. Counsel for the CAB said that 10 Coldwater Lakes in Saggart was of historical interest to the Mansfield family but that it is controlled by the Kinahan cartel. Outlining the background of the case Shelley Horan BL, for the Bureau, said it is their belief that the Kinahan gang had made a substantial investment in various properties Jim Mansfield Jnr was developing.

In an effort to reimburse the gang, Mansfield Jnr handed over control of a gated mansion.

Joanna and David’s sibling is Liam Byrne, the head of the Byrne organised crime group. Shelly Horan BL for CAB claimed Kinahan had occupied and controlled the house from 2014 onwards due to the nature of items found inside it. Anne Mansfield, the widower of Jim Mansfield Snr who died in 2014, was part of the agreement yesterday in the High Court not to contest the matter with CAB, as was Mansfield Jnr and his brother PJ, who was present. This was the Irish branch of the Kinahan cartel, the court was told. The High Court previously established that 44-year-old Kinahan is the manager and controller of the cartel. In 2014, in an effort to reimburse the gang, Mansfield Jnr handed control of a gated mansion to gang boss Kinahan and his No2, Thomas “Bomber” Kavanagh, as well as making cash payments.

The High Court heard bombshell revelations that the Criminal Assets Bureau has seized a luxury home from Mansfield as it was under the control of the cartel.

Around €5,000 in case was found in a white envelope with ‘KAVS’ written on it. And the court heard the house had been under the control of Kinahan and Kavanagh from 2014. Mansfield has already consented to the orders to dispose of the property and cash. CAB now want the pad - valued at €1m and of “historical significance” to Mansfield along with €50,000 in cash - returned to the exchequer. One investigator told us: “This property was out of the way and was a perfect location to hold cartel summits. The property - 10 Coldwater Lakes in Saggart - was also used by Kinahan and Kavanagh during their trips to Ireland before they took ownership of it in 2014.

Criminal Assets Bureau taking case against Mansfield and members of Kinahan cartel.

One of the documents was called “Jimmy money in” which he assessed as referring to monies received by Mansfield jnr by the Kinahan group and that “money out” referred to money paid by Mansfield to the Kinahan group as repayment of funds received. Mansfield jnr had said he did not know why “Kavs” was written on it and said he took it from Finnstown House for safekeeping. He has been named in Garda evidence in previous cases as the leader of the Kinahan cartel. The Cab officer said ledgers of money in and money out were found during a search of the property which is believed to be how Mansfield jnr tracked the financial arrangement he had with the Kinahan group. The Cab was told that around April-May 2014, the keys of Coldwater Lakes were handed to the Kavanaghs. After that, the Mansfields had nothing to do with that property, the employee said. When interviewed, Mansfield said he never got anything off the Kavanaghs and did not owe them anything. In 2012, the Kavanaghs made contact with Jim Mansfield snr as they believed he would be “fair” because they had lost trust in Jimmy Junior, the employee said. The employee said Mansfield jnr was concerned for his personal safety and had been warned on several occasions by gardaí about threats to his life. The Cab proceedings are against Daniel Kinahan, Thomas Kavanagh and Jim Mansfield jnr and PJ Mansfield. Anne Mansfield is not a party but she also consented to the order that she has no claim over the property. The employee said he was asked by “Jimmy” to allow access for a car into Tasaggart House, where he and his mother, Anne, then lived, and allowed a small white van with two individuals in it, whom he did not know, into the gardens. The employee said he received a phone call from Mansfield the next afternoon asking him to bring the Mercedes from their hotel and pick him up. He joked about this and said, even though he was partying, he was still making money,” the employee said, according to the affidavit.

Dwyer won his challenge concerning the use of mobile phone metadata to convict him, but a top barrister, Ronan Lupton, said this is not a "home run for Dwyer". Scott Delaney is the son of ‘Cotton Eye’ Joe Delaney - the first gangland killer to be jailed for murder in Ireland in a landmark case.
