"They're honestly a blessing," Sue shared, as she went on to say the day her daughter was released from hospital on April 8 she pleaded to go home with her. But while Nikki wanted to get better, she insisted that getting admitted to hospital didn't help because "the patients would have a competition to see who can be the thinnest". In a heartbreaking interview with OK! recently, the star's mum Sue poured her heart out about her daughter's disease and final days, and how she did everything she could to help her daughter but it was never enough. Sadly, Nikki insisted she wanted to be alone but had promised her mum she was going to go a recovery clinic in London a few days later. "She deteriorated so much, she didn’t have any control over it, she was so ill," the brunette beauty told The Sun. "When she tried to walk up the stairs she couldn’t move her legs and had to pick them up with her hands. "She didn’t want to be anorexic, she really did want to fight this but there was a part in her head that just couldn’t do it." She died in her sleep at home following a conversation with her beloved mum Susan, which came only a day after she was released from hospital.

The patients would have a competition to see who can be the thinnest. I tried to get her sectioned. She didn’t want to be anorexic. She called me a few weeks before she died saying she wanted to die. Imogen said: “She called me a few weeks before she died saying she wanted to die. In a preview clip seen by The Sun, Imogen detailed a conversation with Nikki “a few weeks” before her death.

I may not of seen Nikki as much as I used to see her the last year but we were always in contact and when I found out she was really ill I did everything I could to b there for her. “It wasn’t nice for her mum and the rest of her family and friends.” Upset Pete previously hit back at Imogen and insisted he "didn't sell anything" - and that his tribute was "from the heart". In a lengthy social media post, he set the record straight and totally denied he cashed in from Nikki's death. On the final photo, she told The Sun : “He just rocked up at 1am with his girlfriend and took that picture. Ahead of the one-year anniversary of her tragic passing, her close friend has been talking about the star who lost her battle to anorexia aged 38.
