A deflected goal from Ryan Brennan five minutes before the end earned a share of the spoils for Drogheda United at Finn Harps.

Even after the equaliser, Sam Long made an unbelievable save from Harps’ Yoyo Mahdy from Bastien Hery’s cross 20 seconds from the end of injury-time. Drogheda’s Andrew Quinn was only on the field a matter of seconds when he headed clear off the line from Mahdy minutes before Brennan’s leveller. Kevin Doherty’s visitors went in front from their first attack on five minutes.

Andrew Quinn was only on the field a matter of seconds when he headed clear off his own line from Mahdy and kept Drogheda in the fight, minutes before Brennan’s leveller. Drogheda went in front from their first meaningful attack on five minutes. After the equaliser, Long made an unbelievable point-blank save from Mahdy from Bastien Hery’s cross 20 seconds from the end of injury time.

In the end, the Ballybofey men had to settle for a draw. Finn Harps were held to a draw in Ballybofey tonight as Ryan Brennan’s late goal rescued a share of the spoils for Drogheda United. Andrew Quinn also somehow cleared off the line to prevent Mahdy from scoring a header in the 80th minute.

The Croatian headed the ball to Mahdy who poked the ball into the net. Mahdy first treid to beat Long at the keepers side from a free kick but Long saved well and Rainey smashed the rebound over the bar. Harps were boosted by the goal as they enjoyed more chances as McNamee almost scored when Long couldn’t hold Slevin’s cross. Slevin then had a volley go narrowly over the bar from another Boyle long throw. McNamee found McWoods and his cross fell to Mihaljević at the back post. But Harps grew into the game and were 2-1 up at half-time thanks to Eric McWoods and Yoyo Mahdy.
