Kenny Dalglish backs Celtic to be "in the driving seat" for title after ... (67 Hail Hail)

Kenny Dalglish is backing Celtic to take a point from Ibrox and remain firmly in the driving seat for the Scottish Premiership title.

Of course, we have every right to feel as though we have the team to get at Rangers today. Sure, there’s a game at Celtic Park to come before the end of the campaign. If you were to gather 1,000 Celtic fans in a room and ask who would be happy with a point today, the numbers of hands that would go up would likely surprise you. It takes away the big opportunity Rangers will feel they have to close our gap at the top. Dalglish, who played for Celtic between 1969 and 1977, believes the Glasgow derby clash at Ibrox today is set to be a cracker. A win for them really blows the title race wide open.

And really the disappointment for Rangers will be that they offered so little in a game that mattered so much. And in this respect perhaps the turning point of the game came as early as the seventh minute, when Rogic’s equaliser dramatically spiked a Rangers surge that was already threatening to set the terms of the game. The start of the second half was delayed as stewards removed shards of glass from a glass bottle thrown at the Celtic goalmouth. And had Rangers just been able to hold on to their lead, perhaps even kill it off, the afternoon might have a radically different feel to it. They were poor: lacking in finesse and movement, reduced for large periods of the game to a fusillade of abysmal crosses. Their midfield, written off by many ahead of this game as too slight and technical for a game like this, was a superb second line of defence, never allowing Rangers to take control of the game despite Aaron Ramsey’s third-minute goal.

Celtic display true title grit to leave Rangers needing a miracle (Irish Mirror)

Aaron Ramsey had the champions flying after he swept home the opener but Tom Rogic and Cameron Cater-Vickers reversed the result.

The moment that got the home fans rocking again was for a tackle rather than a shot on goal as Giakoumakis was booked for wiping out Ryan Jack. That sparked a siege on the Celtic backline that forced the visitors into multiple last-gasp clearances. A manic end to the first half ensued as Maeda appealed for a penalty as he knocked it past McGregor and there was contact from the Rangers keeper. That moment, and the score at the break, combined to produce a sedate atmosphere as the second half started. Rangers, at their best on the break, claimed for a penalty when Joe Airbo clashed with Carl Starfelt just as Tavernier released his ball into the box. Celtic were growing in confidence and passed up a big chance when McGregor closed the angle Maeda as he raced into the box but the ball ricocheted into Rogic's who watched Bassey block his goal bound effort. Nerve-shredding moments followed with the occasion clearly playing a part as Rangers started to sit off to the halfway line when Postecoglou's side were in possession.

'All down to him': How unknown Ange 'scarred' bitter rivals in unthinkable revival.

“Celtic got knocked out of the Champions League and had to play a team of kids. “For Celtic to be in this position, it is all down to Ange Postecoglou and his recruitment. “When Martin O’Neill came in, the points deficit was 21 points in the previous season behind a really good Rangers team. Rangers put an end to Celtic’s famous quest for ten in a row by romping to the title with an emphatic 25 points separating the two famous clubs. It was a relentless contest that had all the hallmarks of what constitutes a Postecoglou team: relentless energy, rapid bursts forward in attack and that never-say-die attitude. Then it was time for one half of the meanest centre-back pairings in the league to step up, as Cameron Carter-Vickers put Celtic in the lead just before halftime in what would ultimately prove to be the winning goal.

Rangers fans don't seem happy with the team's performances under the management of Giovanni van Bronckhorst, following their defeat against Celtic at Ibrox.

When Van Bronckhorst arrived as manager, following Steven Gerrard’s exit in the middle of the season, it is safe to say that the majority of their supporters were delighted. And now, their only hope is Celtic slipping up in the remaining games. On the other hand, it looks like the Rangers’ reign as the champions of Scotland might be just one season long.
