Numerous PGA Tour players have been sent invites to compete in the opening London event of the new LIV Golf Invitational Series.
Following the first event in London, the LIV Golf Invitational Series then moves to Portland in early July followed by New Jersey later in the month. The LIV Golf Invitational Series is the official name of what the golf industry had been calling the Saudi Golf League in recent months. Greg Norman has reportedly sent out numerous invites to PGA Tour players today for them to take part in the first tournament of a new LIV Golf Invitational Series this summer.
PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic — Ben Martin birdied six of the last eight holes for a 6-under 66 and the first-round lead Thursday in the PGA TOUR's windy ...
“On the back nine you want to take advantage of the par 5s and 15 because finishing on 16, 17, 18 is usually going to be into the wind and you really need to be in control of your golf ball,” Martin said. “The winds are very interesting,” Buckley said. Obviously, the course is not similar at all, but it was almost like a British Open-type way of playing today. “Extremely windy day out there,” Lingmerth said. My fifth time here, I’m starting to feel reasonably comfortable down here in the strong wind. He won the 2014 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open for his lone PGA TOUR title.

The PGL has proposed a series of team events that would incorporate into the PGA Tour schedule and pay millions of dollars to players.
The key point of the PGL proposal is that it would impact all members, not just the elite or top players on the Tour. It includes a cash advance on future equity value of $460 million. The PGL outlined its plan in a Feb. 14 letter to the PGA Tour Policy Board that was shared with numerous players. How much would each member stand to make under the proposal?
Among those looking to move on are Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay, and Scottie Scheffler. Here's ...

On the first day of his long-awaited return to the PGA Tour, Bryson DeChambeau appeared heathy. His game, however, looked less sharp.
“Obviously because I haven’t walked 18 holes in six weeks, it’s a bit tiring,” he said. There was a lot of drives out there I felt really bad because it’s not going the places I want it to go just because I’m not confident with how my wrist will go through it. “Bring the power,” one young on-looker shouted as DeChambeau strolled down the first fairway. From there — 199 yards out — all he needed was a 9-iron, which he hit to 8 feet. After a loose shot on 13, he found himself in one of the oddest rules situations you’ll ever see, with officials repainting a hazard line around the spot where his ball had settled. “I really feel good about where my game is right now,” DeChambeau told PGA Tour Radio after his round.
From Rickie Fowler to Jason Day and more, these 10 big-name pros have plummeted in the world rankings — could 2022 be the year they rise?
Scott has the game to contend and he has been closer to doing so, notching three top 5s in his last 10 starts on Tour. After an unsteady return to golf, he struggled with a tricky travel schedule and didn’t seriously contend again until the 2021 Wyndham Championship. Top 10s at Augusta and Kiawah last year plus a T6 at this year’s Farmers are encouraging signs that his game is still built to take on the game’s toughest tests. After a poor 2020, in which he had more missed cuts than top 10s for the first time since 2009, Rose has been on a consistent if unspectacular run of form. What’s missing: Contention. Rose hasn’t fallen off a cliff, he just hasn’t sustained the excellence we’d come to expect from him. Comeback status: Encouraging! He has two T5 finishes in his last four starts and has generally been an all-or-nothing player, missing the cut or finishing relatively high on the weekend. And if he does, the rest of his game is plenty sharp to be a PGA Tour contender. What’s discouraging is that what’s holding him back the last couple seasons is the same thing that used to be his superpower: his putting. That U.S. Open victory was still Kaymer’s most recent worldwide win, but he got close with two podium finishes last summer. Career peak: This now seems like ancient history but Kaymer won the 2014 U.S. Open by eight shots. What’s missing: Contention on the PGA Tour, where he doesn’t have a top 20 finish in nearly a calendar year. Comeback status: Middling. Molinari seems to be playing more (he barely played at all early in the pandemic) but hasn’t found himself in the thick of contention very often, logging three top-20s in 2021.
AUSTIN, Texas – Bryson DeChambeau battled to a tie with Richard Bland in his long-awaited return from injury, before confirming he may compete in another ...
I know this (PGA TOUR) is where my home is, but at the end of the day I want to expand out and try and give people a little bit of a show too.” If his body does hold up through this tournament, next week’s Valero Texas Open, and then the Masters, DeChambeau floated a return to the Professional Long Drivers Association’s next event at Hobe Sound in Florida on April 14-16. Thankfully, despite losing the 14th as well, he was able to rally and close out a 2-up win. As a result the incident prompted the rules committee to deliberate quickly and a decision was made to amend the hazard line. We were in the process of getting the paint to the location, and the call came from the official.” While technically a correct call by the official, it was not how the course was intended to play.
Thomas Pieters threw yet another strop on the PGA Tour after not receiving a drop from a sprinkler head in the penalty area on the 13th hole during his WGC ...
Correct call - and Pieters should note he would have been in the water if the sprinkler hadn't stopped his ball. Negligent marking of the penalty area line meant the sprinkler was inside it, so no relief under the rules. Pieters called a PGA Tour rules official in to dispute whether or not he was able to take a free drop, but because the ball was touching a penalty area line he was not allowed to take a free drop.
The incident, which occurred on the 13th hole at Austin Country Club, left viewers rather perplexed, as Thomas Pieters found a sprinkler head that was ...
"I don't want to say that (it was a painting error), because obviously an error would have been to purposely paint and hit that thing and have it in there. As the paint was on the way to the area, "a call came from the official: I've got the exact same situation again; how do you want me to handle this. Anyone that's ever done it, it's blowing around on you out there in the wind, and I think the wind just caused it to get a little close, and quite honestly we should have picked up on that as a committee." But when he was looking at it, he ruled on it based on the fact that that red line was technically touching both the ball and the sprinkler head. At that time I don't want to say he ruled incorrectly because I think he ruled based on what he was looking at. After consulting with a PGA Tour official, Pieters was frustrated to learn he was being denied the free drop.
