Celtic reaction: Weirdly missing from top of one table; absence ... (The Scotsman)

Goals are flowing for Celtic again, with 10 in their past three games. But one position remains elusive even with those returns.

The wonderful character, who simply ate and breathed Celtic, is the only man to take the helm for at least four games - as he did as caretaker manager in 1993 - and remain undefeated. Both have been excellent, but in his absence maybe the club followers have recognised that Turnbull still offers different attributes to any other central performers in the Celtic squad. But never so late into a top flight campaign wherein Celtic are excelling - they are now 25 league games unbeaten in a 31-match domestic run with loss - have they been missing from the leading contenders for the golden boot. It seemed all about the goals as Celtic extended their league lead to six points with a 4-0 thumping of Ross County - the club’s biggest home league win since August. Giorgos Giakoumakis bagged his second hat-trick in as many appearances at the club’s home to take his tally to nine goals in only seven games, and 11 since the turn of the year. The ear-piercing roars that greeted David Turnbull’s introduction as a late substitute against County, an appearance which marked his comeback following three months out with a hamstring tear, would have greatly warmed the attacker. In the list of top league scorers, Celtic do not have a player in the leading five.

Ange Postecoglou has urged the need for patience with Celtic's Reo ... (67 Hail Hail)

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has delivered a dose of reality when it comes to the expectations placed on Reo Hatate.

The goals against Hearts and Rangers, in a way, worked against Hatate. Many believed that, because of those efforts, he was going to be performing at an insane level of a weekly-basis. It’s vital to remember that Hatate signed for Celtic on a 4-and-a-half-year contract back in January. He’s here for the long-term, not for just a few months. He’s still a young guy, he’s still got a lot of development. Yet the truth is, the form of Kyogo and Daizen Maeda probably didn’t help either. Speaking at a presser in which 67HailHail were in attendance, Ange said the following when asked about Hatate by the Celtic Exchange: And it’s left many who were previously unaware of the player before his January arrival wondering whether he truly will be the real deal.

Giorgos Giakoumakis's hat-trick sends Celtic six points clear in Scotland (The Irish Times)

Keith Watson replaced Hungbo as County boss Malky Mackay reshuffled, with Rogic limping off to be replaced by Matt O’Riley, who soon came close with a drive from the edge of the box. County goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw made saves from a Maeda header and a Callum McGregor drive but from the latter corner, in the 26th minute, the league leaders added a third. The Greek forward’s first effort, after Jota’s cross to the back post was headed back by Maeda, was cleared off the line by centre back Jack Baldwin but the striker simply headed the ball back into the corner of the net.

Rangers fight back to keep Celtic in sight in Scotland (RTE.ie)

Rangers kept in Celtic's slipstream - but only just - after Connor Goldson's late strike gave the disjointed Ibrox men a 2-1 win over Dundee at the Kilmac ...

The Ibrox side had the chance to level from the spot when captain Jordan McGhee challenged Morelos inside the six-yard box - it looked soft - but in keeping with Rangers' inept display, Tavernier blazed the ball over the bar. A launch of streamers from the Gers supporters meant an early stoppage in the game but when it resumed Rangers, in a new 150th anniversary white kit, were soon in state of shock when Jordan Marshall's cross from the left was headed in at the back post by Christie who outjumped Ryan Kent. In the 15th minute Alfredo Morelos headed a Calvin Bassey cross past the post before Goldson fired a shot wide of the target.

Why Leo Hjelde and Celtic didn't work out as dad opens up on ... (Scottish Daily Record)

Hjelde's father, Jon Olav, says his son spent much time 'sitting in a room to himself' and rarely saw his family thanks to Covid.

It was not just easy, so to speak. Speaking to Norway's Dagbladet, Hjelde senior said: "He had to stand in quite a lot when he was in Celtic. We hardly saw him in a year, and he was just sitting in a room to himself. But father, Jon Olaf, has revealed his teenaged son was struggling as he felt isolated in Glasgow, going a year without seeing his family due to Covid lockdowns, not being given a chance in the first-team and especially finding it hard being separated from younger brother Jesper.

Why Leo Hjelde struggled with life at Celtic revealed (The Celtic Bhoys)

In fact, Celtic have struggled with keeping hold of their most talented youngsters in recent times. Many of them have ended up joining other European clubs like Bayern Munich, Manchester City and others before ever playing first-team football for Celtic.

But, it looks like he was struggling with life at Parkhead and thus, it was perhaps the best decision for him to leave. “He had to stand in quite a lot when he was in Celtic. We hardly saw him in a year, and he was just sitting in a room to himself. “The toughest thing was to leave little brother.
