Earlier this week, Bridgers expanded her Reunion Tour, which kicks off next month in Phoenix, Arizona. She recently launched Saddest Factory Radio on SiriusXM, a monthly show she hosts. “Chinese Satellite” is the 20th of the project’s 25 singles, after Bright Eyes “Running Back,” Hatchie’s “Crush,” Bartees Strange’s “Lady Luck,” and more. All proceeds go directly to New Hope for Families, a nonprofit raising money to fight homelessness in Bloomington, Indiana.

Bridgers is set to begin a world tour next month, beginning in North America and covering Europe in June before returning to the United States for a West Coast leg in August. In November, she covered Tom Waits’ “ Day After Tomorrow” to raise money for the Local Integration & Family Empowerment Division of the International Institute of Los Angeles. She’s more recently launched a monthly SiriusXM radio show named for her Saddest Factory label imprint. Recorded live at the famous Sound City Studios in Los Angeles, Bridgers reimagines “Chinese Satellite” as a slow(er) ballad, removing the original’s rollicking percussion in favor of stark acoustic guitar. Bridgers is no stranger to reimagining previously recorded songs. Bridgers joins the likes of Bright Eyes and Goose in contributing to the campaign.
