EPCR European Player of the Year nominee Jack O'Donoghue dotted down twice as Munster Rugby ran in nine tries to thrash Dragons 64-3 in the United Rugby.

Bears fly-half Callum Sheedy tallied 12 points from the tee. In the TOP 14, there were mixed results for the teams set to feature in the Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16, with two sides picking up victories and three falling to defeats. Elsewhere Leinster Rugby, who play Connacht Rugby in the Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16, returned to the top of the United Ruby Championship with a nine-try demolition of Benetton Rugby.

Ruthless Munster score 10 tries against hapless Dragons (RTE.ie)

Munster will make their way to South Africa off the back of a 64-3 hammering of Dragons that saw them move to third in the United Rugby Championship table.

Dean Ryan’s defence went to sleep as Casey tapped a quick penalty close to the line before sending Simon Zebo over. "I don't think the last 40 minutes is representative of what we are trying to do or what we are trying to be and we have to ask some hard questions about that because we didn’t make it hard enough. The start of the second half was scrappy and it took until the 52nd minute for the 2011 champions to extend their lead. "At half-time we said we wanted to keep up the intensity for 80 minutes and we did that tonight." With just one win from their nine games before tonight, the Dragons were one off the bottom on the standings and their record of eight straight losses to Munster never looked like coming to an end. Munster will make their way to South Africa off the back of a ten-try hammering of Dragons that saw them move to third in the United Rugby Championship table.

Munster chalked up their ninth win in a row at Thomond Park with a facile ten-try to nil win over a Dragons side who were hopelessly out of their depth.

A tapped penalty inside the 22 from Casey caught the Dragons defence asleep and sent Zebo over unchallenged after 53 minutes. They struck again from the restart. The template for the win was laid out early when Casey got in for his first try after a penalty down the left and that route also led to his second after 23 minutes.

Munster Rugby scorch Dragons in URC clash at Thomond Park (Limerick Leader)

MUNSTER RUGBY prepared for their South African mini-tour in perfect fashion this evening with a record equalling ten try, bonus point win, 64-3 win over the ...

Once the conversion went over it was a total of 64 not out for Munster with three minutes to go. Speaking of things happening in twos, Chris Cloete scored his second try of the night and Munster's eight in the 68th minute after a brilliant offload from Shane Daly as Munster played under penalty advantage. As if to mirror the game as a whole, Munster's fifth try came in weird circumstances. The bonus point try was in the bag before half time as Chris Cloete crossed for a five pointer in the 37th minute, following an initial line break by John Ryan. The South African back row was on hand, right in the corner, to make it four tries and take Munster into a 26-3 lead after just 37 minutes. Seconds later Waterford's Jack O'Donoghue scored his side's third try, finishing off a length of the field score, being put away in the end by Mike Haley to score. Munster Rugby opened the scoring with a 10th minute try from Irish scrum half Craig Casey, working well off of an attacking maul.
