David Walliams is one of the most popular children's authors of the next generation, having written popular books Billionaire Boy, Mr Stink and The Boy in the Dress. This young book lover's chosen novel of 2022 appears to be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The charity event is held annually in the UK and Ireland on the first Thursday of every March.

One character we've seen a lot of this year is Cruella de Vil and the children at staff at Kidzrus nursery in Monton - who dressed as dalmatians - had a special visit from the villain herself. Children have been dressing as their favourite book characters for playgroups, nurseries and schools and we've seen some fabulous outfits today. It is designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading and is marked in more than 100 countries around the globe. World Book Day is a charity on a mission to give every child and young person a book of their own.
