A body discovered on a beach in Blackpool in northern England has been confirmed as that of missing Dublin woman Bernadette Connolly.
"We prayed for people to light a path to bring her home and we're so grateful to have her back and can now lay her to rest," she said. Ms Connolly said it was a tragedy that no family should have to experience and appealed for privacy. This evening, her daughter Jade confirmed on a post on social media, that her mother's body had been discovered on a Blackpool beach.

It was only recently that this information was filtered back from the local English Police back to the Irish Police, and had it noted that this process can take at least two weeks to confirm through DNA.” "This was confirmed through DNA profiling, where a sample of Jade's DNA had been taken during the initial weeks she was actively searching, and uploaded to the Interpol system for comparison should anyone have been found with a potential matching description. Her jacket, and a bag she had with her, were later found at the other end of the beach towards Malahide, and an examination of the phone showed it was used to take a photograph of the coast at 12.38pm.
